Students living in Crosspointe, Laurel Hill, Barrington, Lorton Valley and a number of other smaller subdivisions in and around Lorton and Springfield can expect to attend South County. Gunston, Halley, Laurel Hill, Newington Forest, and Silverbrook elementary schools all feed into South County Middle.

South County Middle is a part of the South County High School Pyramid, Region 4 of FFX public school district. That means students attending South County Middle will move on to South County High School after 8th grade. South County Middle operates on a block schedule where students alternate classes depending on the day of the week. Students at South County can take part in the school’s band or strings program.

All Fairfax County schools offer French and Spanish language classes. South County is also one of the only schools in the area that offers Latin.

South County is also a Fairfax County Middle School Advanced Placement Level IV. That means all students in full-time Level IV, center-based classes have been identified as center-eligible by a central selection committee. If students attending neighboring schools do not have a level four program at their school they have the option of attending South County.
