Between preschool and third grade there are close to 700 students enrolled at Kings Park Elementary each school year. That makes Kings Park one of the larger elementary schools even though it only goes to third grade. Students in the area attend nearby Kings Park for kindergarten through 3rd before transferring to Kings Glen to finish off elementary.

Third-grade students can participate in a number of leadership opportunities:

• Tech Team – learns about robotics, coding, engineering, and  STEAM activities
• Cub Council – helps to market and put together school events and spirit days
• Cub Patrols – work with the safety patrol members from Kings Glen Elementary. Patrols support the staff and crossing guard during arrival and dismissal.
• KPOV (Kids’ Point of View) TV station- student anchors run a morning news program each school day
• Dancing Cubs – dancers perform at the annual Kings Park-Kings Glen Volleyball Game.[/su_icon_text]

Many students living in Springfield and Burke including those in Burke Station Square, Danbury Forest, Kings Park, Lake Braddock, and a number of other subdivisions may attend Kings Park. Kings Park is in the Lake Braddock Pyramid that means after your child moves on to Kings Glen for the 4th-6th grades they’ll go to Lake Braddock Middle School then Lake Braddock High School.

One important thing to consider is the school’s hours of operation. Kings Park’s hours are Monday through Friday are 8:40 to 3:25 for grades K – 3. 

There are two part-time preschool programs operating between 8:40-12 and 12:05-3:25.

If you need to be at work by 8:30 that could present some challenges for you, especially if you’re commuting to the District or the Pentagon.

Kings Park offers SACC which is a before and after-school program has with the Office for Children of Fairfax County. However, I have to warn you that SACC often times has a waiting list that’s months long. Check out the SACC website to see if there are spots currently available.

If you are unable to get your child signed up for SACC there are a number of private before and after care programs in the area that will drop off and pick up your child.[/su_icon_text]

Parent involvement has been linked to student achievement. When looking for a school for your kids you’re also looking for a school that’s a good fit for you as well.

The Kings Park & Kings Glen PTA supports a number of efforts to enrich the lives of the students, teachers, and families at the school. The KPKG PTA in partnership with the school sponsors a number of popular activities each year including social events and fundraisers.

Each school year the PTA offers a number of fee-based after school enrichment classes. They range from science focused to athletics, and the arts.
