Centre Ridge has an Advanced Academic Program for students in grades K-6. The school works with teachers to identify students that may benefit from the program, however, you can also request a screening of your child by contacting the school directly. If your child is selected for the AAP program they’ll be pulled out with other students throughout the week for those subjects.

Like most schools in Fairfax County, Centre Ridge has an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). There are a number of instructors on staff that focus on helping those students achieve academic success..

Olde Creek also focuses on STEAM education. STEAM in FCPS is an inquiry approach to teaching and learning where students integrate science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics to solve problems.

There are many activities for students before, during, and after school:

• Student Council Association -students can participate through classroom representatives and student officers. The SCA schedules various “spirit days” throughout the school year to generate school spirit.
• Safety Patrol – Patrols support the staff and crossing guard during arrival and dismissal.
• Young Ladies in Motion- Girls in grades 4-6 can join the school running club. In Young Ladies in Motion students work on short and long-term goals both running and personal

There are nearly 800 students enrolled at Centre Ridge Elementary each school year.

Students living in the Centreville subdivisions of Centre Ridge, Centreville Crossing, Old Mill, Sanderling, or The Meadows may attend Centre Ridge. Centre Ridge is in the Centreville Pyramid that means if your child goes to Centre Ridge they’ll go Liberty Middle School then Centreville High School.

One important thing to consider is the school’s hours of operation. Centre Ridge’s hours are Monday through Friday are 8:30 to 3:25 for grades K – 6th.

If you need to be at work by 8:30 that could present some challenges for you, especially if you’re commuting to the District or the Pentagon.

Centre Ridge offers SACC which is a before and after-school program has with the Office for Children of Fairfax County. However, I have to warn you that SACC often times has a waiting list that’s months long. Check out the SACC website to see if there are spots currently available.

If you are unable to get your child signed up for SACC there are a number of private before and after care programs in the area that will drop off and pick up your child.[/su_icon_text]

Parent involvement has been linked to student achievement. When looking for a school for your kids you’re also looking for a school that’s a good fit for you as well.

The Centre Ridge PTA supports a number of activities in the community including social events and fundraisers. Each school year the PTA offers a number of fee-based after-school enrichment programs. They vary year to year and range from science focused to athletics and the arts.

The school welcomes parents to set up a time with your child’s teacher to volunteer in the classroom, read a book to the class, or come in to have lunch with your child. Your level of involvement can be as much or as little as you like.[/su_icon_text]
