4 Things About Willow Springs Elementary

[su_icon_text icon=”icon: book” icon_color=”#800020″ icon_size=”39″]Academics

Willow Springs is a center for Fairfax County Advanced Academic Placement. It offers full-time advanced placement for eligible students that focuses on four core content areas. The program is designed to meet the needs of advanced learners.

Over the last 15 years, enrollment in these AAP programs have more than triple which is caused a swell in both the number of schools turned into centers and the number of schools that offer Level IV programs.

Eligible students with Level IV academic placement whose base school doesn’t offer Level IV classes may attend Willow Springs.

There are many activities for students before, during, and after school:

  • Student Council Association -students can participate through classroom representatives and student officers. The SCA schedules various “spirit days” throughout the school year to generate school spirit.
  • Safety Patrol – Patrols support the staff and crossing guard during arrival and dismissal.
  • Chorus, Band, and Strings – students in the upper grades may choose to participate in one of these electives in addition to general music[/su_icon_text]

[su_icon_text icon=”icon: user-circle” icon_color=”#800020″ icon_size=”39″]Enrollment

There are just over 1000 students enrolled at Willow Springs Elementary each school year.

Students living in the Clifton and Fairfax subdivisions of Brentwood, Clifton Farms, Hampton Forest, and Ridge Top, Wescott Ridge may attend Willow Springs. Willow Springs is in the Fairfax Pyramid that means if your child goes to Providence they’ll go to Lanier Middle School then Fairfax High School.

We always recommend you check out the Fairfax County Boundary Locator to confirm the schools serving a specific address before making any decision to buy or rent a home. [/su_icon_text]

One important thing to consider is the school’s hours of operation. Willow Springs’ hours are Monday through Friday are 9:15 to 4:00 for grades K – 6th.

If you need to be at work by 8:30 that could present some challenges for you, especially if you’re commuting to the District or the Pentagon.

Willow Springs offers SACC which is a before and after-school program has with the Office for Children of Fairfax County. However, I have to warn you that SACC often times has a waiting list that’s months long. Check out the SACC website to see if there are spots currently available.

If you are unable to get your child signed up for SACC there are a number of private before and after care programs in the area that will drop off and pick up your child.[/su_icon_text]

Parent involvement has been linked to student achievement. When looking for a school for your kids you’re also looking for a school that’s a good fit for you as well.

The Willow Springs PTA supports a number of activities in the community including social events and fundraisers. Each school year the PTA offers a number of fee-based after-school enrichment programs. They vary year to year and range from science focused to athletics and the arts.

The school welcomes parents to set up a time with your child’s teacher to volunteer in the classroom, read a book to the class, or come in to have lunch with your child. Your level of involvement can be as much or as little as you like.[/su_icon_text]

[su_homepage_testimonial author="A Happy Client"]I’ve only shopped for property three times, but Abraham provided a substantially better experience than my previous two agents (even though they all worked for the same brokerage). He knows what he is doing, he is service oriented, he is friendly, and he gets things done. I can tell you that you probably have no idea how awesome a real estate agent can be unless you’ve bought or sold through Abraham. As long as he is around and I’m buying or selling, Abraham will be my agent from here on out.[/su_homepage_testimonial]
