In Fairfax County schools gifted services are available to students that show exceptional performance capability in academic, intellectual, and creative endeavors through Advanced Academic Programs (AAP). Students that were identified for AAP in grade school can continue on through the program.

Sandburg is also a Fairfax County Middle School Advanced Placement Level IV. That means all students in full-time Level IV, center-based classes have been identified as center-eligible by a central selection committee. If students attending neighboring schools do not have a level four program at their school they have the option of attending Sandburg.

The school works with teachers to identify students that may benefit from the program, however, you can also request a screening of your child by contact the school directly.

Sandburg also offers foreign language classes in German, French, and Spanish.[/su_icon_text]

Sandburg Middle is a part of the West Potomac Pyramid, Region 3 of FFX public school district. That means students at Sandburg would move on to West Potomac High for 9th grade. Sandburg Middle operates on a block schedule where students alternate classes depending on the day of the week.
