[su_icon_text icon=”icon: book” icon_color=”#800020″ icon_size=”39″]Academics

Orange Hunt has an Advanced Academic Program for students in grades K-6. The school works with teachers to identify students that may benefit from the program, however, you can also request a screening of your child by contact the school directly. If your child is selected for the AAP program they’ll be pulled out with other students throughout the week for those subjects.

Orange Hunt is one of the few elementary schools offering foreign language classes for grade school students. The Foreign Language in the Elementary School/Language through Content (FLES/LTC) Program helps students learn a world language through Science and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics) integrated content.

Orange Hunt has a partial German Immersion Program for students in first grade through sixth grade. Students in the immersion program spend approximately half of each day learning mathematics, science, and health in German. The other half of the day is spent learning social studies, language arts, and reading in English.

General music classes are taken in all grades. General Music includes singing, reading and listening to music. In upper grades, students can elect to take strings, band, and chorus.

If you’re relocating from another part of the country you may be unfamiliar with the Fairfax County school calendar. School starts during the last week of August and ends in either the second or third week of June.

One important thing to consider is the school’s hours of operation. If you need to be at work by 8:30 that could present some challenges for you, especially if you’re commuting to the District or the Pentagon.

Orange Hunt’s hours are Monday through Friday are 8:45 to 3:30.

Orange Hunt offers SACC which is a before and after-school program has with the Office for Children of Fairfax County. However, I have to warn you that SACC often times has a waiting list that’s months long. Check out the SACC website to see if there are spots currently available.

If you are unable to get your child signed up for SACC there are a number of private before and after care programs in the area that will drop off and pick up your child.[/su_icon_text]

[su_icon_text icon=”icon: list” icon_color=”#800020″ icon_size=”39″]Parent Involvement

Parent involvement has been linked to student achievement. When looking for a school for your kids you’re also looking for a school that’s a good fit for you as well.

The Orange Hunt PTA supports the school through various fundraisers and events during the school year. The Orange Hunt PTA offers a number of before and after school fee-based programs. Whether you are looking for sports, drama, arts and crafts, technology, science or hobbies, there’s something for everyone. They also host a number of social events including the a school variety show. Check out their website for a list of upcoming events and meetings.

There are lots of opportunities to support your child and the school by volunteering in the lunchroom, office, and classrooms. Your level of involvement can be as much or as little as you like.[/su_icon_text]

[su_homepage_testimonial author="A Happy Client"]I’ve only shopped for property three times, but Abraham provided a substantially better experience than my previous two agents (even though they all worked for the same brokerage). He knows what he is doing, he is service oriented, he is friendly, and he gets things done. I can tell you that you probably have no idea how awesome a real estate agent can be unless you’ve bought or sold through Abraham. As long as he is around and I’m buying or selling, Abraham will be my agent from here on out.[/su_homepage_testimonial]
