Olde Creek has an Advanced Academic Program for students in grades K-6. The school works with teachers to identify students that may benefit from the program, however, you can also request a screening of your child by contact the school directly. If your child is selected for the AAP program they’ll be pulled out with other students throughout the week for those subjects.

Like most schools in Fairfax County, Olde Creek has an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). Lane has 3 instructors on staff that focus on helping those students achieve academic success.

There are many activities for students before, during, and after school:

Olde Creek is a part of the Woodson Pyramid. That means students move on to Frost middle for grades 7 and 8 then Woodson High School for grades 9 through 12. Olde Creek services students living in a number of areas in Fairfax, including parts of the Chestnut Hills West, Kings Park West, Kingsberry, Old Creek Estates, and Somerset subdivisions.  Despite the many communities it serves Little Run is one of the smallest grade schools in the area with fewer than 400 students.

One important thing to consider is the school’s hours of operation. Little Run’s hours are Monday through Friday are 8:30 to 3:15 for grades K – 6.

If you need to be at work by 8:30 that could present some challenges for you, especially if you’re commuting to the District or the Pentagon.

Little Run offers SACC which is a before and after-school program has with the Office for Children of Fairfax County. However, I have to warn you that SACC often times has a waiting list that’s months long. Check out the SACC website to see if there are spots currently available.

If you are unable to get your child signed up for SACC there are a number of private before and after care programs in the area that will drop off and pick up your child.[/su_icon_text]

Parent involvement has been linked to student achievement. When looking for a school for your kids you’re also looking for a school that’s a good fit for you as well.

The Olde Creek PTA supports a number of efforts to enrich the lives of the students, teachers, and families at the school. They sponsor a number of popular activities each year including social events and fundraisers.

Each school year the PTA offers a number of fee-based after-school enrichment programs. They vary year to year and range from science focused to athletics and the arts.
