Kings Glen has an Advanced Academic Program for students in grades 4-6. The school works with teachers to identify students that may benefit from the program, however, you can also request a screening of your child by contact the school directly. If your child is selected for the AAP program they’ll be pulled from class with other students throughout the week for those subjects.

General music is taken by all students. Beginning in 4th-grade students can elect to join the strings program in addition to general music. In 5th and 6th-grade students can choose to join the school band as well.[/su_icon_text]

There are close to 300 students enrolled at Kings Glen Elementary in grades 4 through 6 each school year. Kings Glen was Fairfax County’s first school offering only grades 4-6. Students in the area attend nearby Kings Park for kindergarten through 3rd before transferring to Kings Glen to finish off elementary.

Many students living in Springfield and Burke including those in Danbury Forest, Kings Park, Lakepointe, and a number of other subdivisions may attend Kings Glen. Kings Glen is in the Lake Braddock Pyramid that means if your child goes to Kings Glen they’ll go to Lake Braddock Middle School then Lake Braddock High School.

One important thing to consider is the school’s hours of operation. Kings Glen’s hours are Monday through Friday are 8:40 to 3:25.

If you need to be at work by 8:30 that could present some challenges for you, especially if you’re commuting to the District or the Pentagon.

Kings Glen offers SACC which is a before and after-school program has with the Office for Children of Fairfax County. However, I have to warn you that SACC often times has a waiting list that’s months long. Check out the SACC website to see if there are spots currently available.

If you are unable to get your child signed up for SACC there are a number of private before and after care programs in the area that will drop off and pick up your child.[/su_icon_text]

Parent involvement has been linked to student achievement. When looking for a school for your kids you’re also looking for a school that’s a good fit for you as well.

The Kings Park & Kings Glen PTA supports a number of efforts to enrich the lives of the students, teachers, and families at the school. The KPKG PTA in partnership with the school sponsors a number of popular activities each year including social events and fundraisers.

Each school year the PTA offers a number of fee-based enrichment programs. They range from science focused to athletics, and the arts.
