5 Home Staging Tips for Fall

Fall is fast approaching and we’re all looking forward to cooler days and falling leaves. If you’re planning to sell your house this autumn its the perfect time to get into high gear before the holiday season.

It’s a beautiful season and the changing color of the leaves is a beautiful backdrop for your home. Here are a few staging tips to make your home as beautiful on the inside as mother nature has made it outdoors.

Brighten Up your House

During the fall, the days are getting shorter and darker but that’s no reason to be alarmed, you can use it to your advantage.

Before showing, make sure to brighten up your interior by turning all lamps and light fixtures. Open the blinds and curtains to make sure you get plenty of natural light inside.

You may want to add additional lighting to the exterior to boost the curb appeal of your home. Not only does it provide safety, but it also creates ambiance and a warm welcome.

Who doesn’t like the illusion of moon shining down?

Don’t Forget the Curb Appeal

No matter the season you only get one chance to make a first impression.

That’s why curb appeal is so important. Whether its the first picture a buyer sees online or the impression they get when they walk up to the front door you want to wow the buyer.

Unfortunately, one of the most challenging aspects of selling your home in the fall is keeping your yard clean. Keep a rake handy if there are trees nearby whether on your lot or yard neighbors. Be sure to rake and sweep the entrance before every showing and open house.

Replace your summer plants with fall flowers like yellow mums or a few pumpkins.

Lastly, give your front door a fresh coat of paint and consider power washing your patio and walkways before the winter season comes.

Bring the Colors Indoor

When the days get colder, you want to bring the warmth inside.

Add vases to important parts of your house to add color. Fill vases with red, yellow, and orange flowers, autumn’s natural color scheme.

Not a fan of flowers try candles in the same colors. Reach for subtle scents like pumpkin spice, cinnamon, and apple over the more powerful scent of mint. The smell will put your buyers in a pleasant mood as they tour your home.

Another way to increase the coziness factor of your home is with a few additional blankets and throw pillows.

To top it all, add some touches of fall decorations to fill in empty spaces your wall.

Change Your Bedding

That’s right, change your bedding. There are three rooms that sell a house, the kitchen, master bathroom, and master bedroom. The cozy theme shouldn’t stop on the main level, bring some of that same warmth upstairs to the bedroom.

If your favorite comforter is a little-worn change it out for a nice thick one in one of autumn’s favorite colors. You can still sleep with your old faithful cover just be sure to put away before any showings.

Don’t Overwhelm

Decorating can be fun, but remember the importance of moderation. While most updates will help you attract potential buyers, you have to keep your decorations to a minimal.

You don’t want to over-decorate your home. Keep personal photos to a minimum. Avoid overpowering a room with too many decorations can make the room feel small or busy.

Remember the goal here is to attract buyers and make them feel at home. But you also want them to be able to picture themselves, their family and their belongings in the house.

Bottomline

You want to create a positive and welcoming vibe in your home. Remember curb appeal counts. Create a warm and welcoming environment. And don’t forget to edit.

[su_homepage_testimonial author="A Happy Client"]I’ve only shopped for property three times, but Abraham provided a substantially better experience than my previous two agents (even though they all worked for the same brokerage). He knows what he is doing, he is service oriented, he is friendly, and he gets things done. I can tell you that you probably have no idea how awesome a real estate agent can be unless you’ve bought or sold through Abraham. As long as he is around and I’m buying or selling, Abraham will be my agent from here on out.[/su_homepage_testimonial]
