Woodson High offers a variety of programs for academic advancements, career prep, and extracurricular interest. The Career and Technical Education program (CTE) allows students to learn the technical applications of different occupations while preparing for either higher education or entering the workforce.

All Fairfax County middle and high schools offer both French and Spanish, however, Woodson also offers American Sign Langauge (ASL), German, and Latin language classes. Woodson High is a relatively large school with nearly 2400 students. That shouldn’t come as much of a surprise as students from Canterbury Woods, Olde Creek, Little Run, Mantua, Fairfax Villa, and Wakefield Forest elementary schools will all eventually make their way through the Woodson pyramid to this high school. Students attending Woodson High School usually attend Forest Middle for the 7th and 8th grades.

Woodson High operates on a block schedule where students alternate classes depending on the day of the week. Like most other high schools in the area, Woodson has facilities on campus to host most athletic competitions. There’s a gymnasium, football field, soccer field, and baseball field.

Woodson has a team for every athlete in every season. There’s cheerleading, cross country, field hockey, football, golf, volleyball in the fall. As winter approaches and temperatures drop they move on to indoor sports like basketball, gymnastics, indoor track, rifle, swim & dive, and wrestling.  By the time spring rolls around students are back outside trying out for baseball, crew, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field.
