5 Things About Robinson Secondary Middle

There are close to 1200 students enrolled in Robinson Middle Secondary and another 2700 in the high school bringing the total student body close to 4000 students.

You may be surprised to learn that both the middle and high schools are in the same building. This is cause for concern for some parents before enrolling in the school but overall feedback is that there is little interaction between the two.[/su_icon_text]

Students living in Burke Cove, Burke Centre, Colony Park, Fairfax Station,  Kings Park West, and a few other parts of Burke may be assigned to Robinson Secondary if they attend the following elementary schools, Bonnie Brae, Fairview, Laurel Ridge, Oakview, and Terra Centre.

Robinson Middle is a part of the Robinson Pyramid, Region 4 of FFX public school district. I recommend you use the Fairfax County Boundary Locator to confirm the schools serving a specific address before making any decision about buying a home. [/su_icon_text]

If you’re relocating from another part of the country you may be unfamiliar with the Fairfax County school calendar. School starts during the last week of August and ends in either the second or third week of June.

Robinson Middle operates on a block schedule where students alternate classes depending on the day of the week. In-class time is roughly one and a half hours rather than attending every class each day for 45 minutes. Here’s an example of what your student can expect on a day to day basis.[/su_icon_text]

Students at Robinson can take part in a number of different programs in the fine arts department. Robinson Middle offers beginning band for wind and percussion instruments, as well as, a symphonic band. Most elementary schools in the area offer band in the 5th and 6th grade. If your child has experience playing they can try out for the intermediate class. There’s also beginning and advanced chorus, guitar, and a piano lab rounding out the music department.

There are also theatre and visual arts electives, including theatre arts, art foundations, 3D art, and computer arts.

Robinson Middle offers the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program to all of its students. Students that participate in the program have the option of continuing on in high school.

The IB program encourages students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

All Fairfax County middle schools offer French and Spanish foreign language classes, however, Robinson also has Latin, Chinese, and German.[/su_icon_text]
